made an extra $13KI’ve talked about how 2020 was as a whole for me a few times on the blog. It was a good year for me when it came to making extra money. I made $13,937.39 last year with my business and side hustles. I’ll take that any year, but in a year like 2020 where so many people lost jobs (including myself), this was great. In 2019, I made $12,405.11. I made $1532 more. That was damn good. This was the most that I’ve ever made with my side ventures. I’m ecstatic. I look forward to doing even better this year.

I create these yearly posts to see my progress. I like to see what categories grew and which ones didn’t. Looking at these numbers shows me what’s working well and what I need to work on. There’s been a lot of changes since my first report a few years ago. Some of the categories aren’t even on my updates anymore. Some side hustles I stopped, so I moved on to something else.

Compared to how these numbers looked in 2019, most of them are trending in the right direction. Let’s dig into them a little deeper.

How I Made an Extra $13K

eBay – $7437.22

For the second year in a row, eBay is number one on the list. I love flipping items so I knew this one would be here. I made over $760 more on eBay than I did in 2019. I made sure to find more items to sell and list more than I did in 2019. I will say that it worked pretty well for me.

If you are interested in learning more about eBay, check out the webinar, eBay for Starters.

Below are 5 of my top sales from last year.

I spent $6 on the Hero Quest Board Game. I was able to sell it for $210.

I got this Tiffany Watch for free. I sold it for $199.

I paid $18.03 for this Nascar Jacket. It sold for $145.

I paid $6.50 for this Dale of Norway sweater. It sold for $100.

I paid $5.50 for this Spookytown Fire Department. It sold for  $100.

Other Platforms – $3558.63

Next up on the list is other platforms. Besides eBay, I sold items on Bonanza, Poshmark, Mercari, Craigslist, OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, and Nextdoor in 2020. Damn, that’s a look of places. I’m a huge fan of crossposting items to multiple platforms. Because I did that, I was able to make over $2000 more in this category than I did in 2019. If you’re not selling on multiple platforms, you should start ASAP. I’m sure your income will grow.  Sign up for a couple of platforms below.

Sponsored Content  – $1029.43

A lot of crappy companies contacted me about sponsored content this year. Most of them wanted me to add casino links to posts. Others wanted me to post articles that had nothing to do with any of the niches on the site. Because of that, this category is third. I care a lot about the content that publish on this site. I’m not just accepting any kind of article anymore.

Other – $541.47

This is the other section. It includes events, Uber Eats, and other random things that I did to make money.

Ads – $541.21

I made $3 less in ads in 2020. That was great because I had 12,000 fewer page views. Both of those will go up in 2021.

Affiliates – $427.65

I neglected my affiliate income in 2019. I only made $130. In 2020, I did a little better, but I’m not happy with it. I’ve been auditing my blog and I realize that I didn’t have enough posts that featured offers that my audience could use. I’ve been researching and working on some posts that will help this amount grow even more this year. I would love to make at least $1K in affiliate income this year.

Products – $401.78

The final category is products. I made some sales but not nearly as much as I wanted. I’ll be the first to say that I didn’t promote my course as much as I could have. I was focused more on building my eBay store. This year, I will promote my course, t-shirts, and other products a lot more.

I’m happy with how I did in 2020. Am I content though? The answer is no. I want every category to grow this year. That way, I’ll be able to eliminate my debt quicker and reinvest in my business. I know that more success is on the way.

If you are thinking about starting a website one important thing to do is to get the domain name. It’s the first thing you should do. GoDaddy is one of the places where you can purchase your domain from.

If you don’t want to get the domain from GoDaddy, you can get it from Namecheap.

Bluehost is the company that I use. I’ve been with them since 2013.  I haven’t had any big problems with them. I wrote a review of the company a couple of years ago. They have hosting plans starting as low as $3.95. Click this unique link for more info.

Uber Eats

If you want to make money driving, but don’t want to deal with people in your car, check out Uber Eats. I make $20-$25 an hour when I drive. It’s easy money. Sign up here to get started today.
