2020 has been a wild ass year. It’s been a year of growth and reflection for me. During the first quarter of 2020, I made $3119. That was pretty good. During the 2nd quarter, I made $4128.09. That was even better. In the 2nd quarter of 2019, I only made $2089. I almost doubled that this year. I love the progression that I’m making. My goal is to continue to grow this income each quarter. I want to eventually make enough so that I won’t even have to consider going back to a 9-5 job. Let’s take a look at the details.
eBay – $2942.02
My eBay store was booming in the second quarter. April & May were 2 of my best months ever. With people being in their homes more, the online business made more money. I made sure that I promoted my items and updated the prices. I’m sure that my eBay sales will continue to do well in the 3rd and 4th quarters as well. I just have to make sure that I can keep up and find merchandise for my store. I went from having over 250 items to currently having 180. That’s a big difference.

Sponsored Content – $363.44
Next on the list is sponsored content. I didn’t have that many sponsored opportunities during the second quarter. I have no idea how this one will look in the third and fourth quarters. I get weekly emails from people wanting to add something to my site. I decline about 85% of the things that people send me. The days of me accepting links for online casinos or debt consolidation websites are over. I’m only dealing with companies that will resonate with my audience.
Facebook Marketplace – $345
This is the first time that Facebook Marketplace has its own section. In the past, I’ve lumped it in with the other platforms section. As I stated earlier online sales were up in the second quarter. Facebook Marketplace had more buyers too. This is the most that I’ve ever made on Facebook Marketplace. I sold a couple of lots of records. A “lot” is a group of items. One record lot was 60+ and the other was 100+. I also added more items to Facebook Marketplace as well. They recently added a shipping option too I plan on testing it out during the next quarter. I’ll let you know how it goes. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share how easy it was for me to ship my first item on Facebook Marketplace.
Other Platforms – $324.58
Next up we have other platforms. This includes money made from Mercari, Poshmark, Craigslist, OfferUp, LetGo, and Instagram. Yes, I get sales from Instagram every few months. One reason that I was able to get sales on so many platforms is that I crosspost many items. I list things on eBay first and then I copy the descriptions to the other platforms. I don’t do that for every item. It depends on what it is. For example, I post jerseys on Poshmark and Mercari. If it’s a bigger item, I may crosspost it to Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.
Miscellaneous – $153.05
The section includes money that I made from ads, product sales, other things. The pandemic slowed down my website traffic for a little bit. Thankfully, it’s picking back up again. This section will be higher in the next quarterly report. I’m testing out different strategies on how to get more people to see my stuff. I can’t wait until my products and affiliate sales are at least $1000 per month. That will get me one step closer to being location independent.

GoDaddy is one of the best places to locate and purchase a domain name. They are advertised as the world’s largest domain name website. I purchased a domain for another website that I had a couple of years ago for under $5. That’s a heck of a price. Head over here to see what domain deals are eligible.
None of this would have happened if I never started blogging. The Butler Journal has been hosted with Bluehost since 2013. If you are looking to take your blog to the next level, you should consider them. You can get your hosting for as little as $3.95 per month (this low price is only available through my unique link).
This blog post features 100 things that you can sell on eBay. One reason that people fail to list things on eBay is that they are not sure what to sell. This list will help you.
