About Jason Butler

My Story

I’m Jason Butler. I graduated from Savannah State University in 2008, but success wasn’t instant. My first full-time job took over a year to land.

After a few years of ups and downs, I realized I needed to take my finances seriously. I began this debt repayment journey with over $72,000 in debt. That included student loans, credit cards, and a car note. I realized I couldn’t make any power moves in life with that much debt. Some things had to change.

I had to figure out how to create additional income streams to help me pay off this debt more quickly. In 2015, I got focused and started trying out different side hustles. Some of the ones I’ve succeeded at are flipping items on sites like eBay, Mercari, and Poshmark, selling t-shirts, and freelance writing.

My Hustle Journey

In 2015, I had over $72,000 of debt. I knew I had to make some serious changes, so I started learning about budgeting, side hustles, and ways to increase my income. Since then, I’ve experimented with dozens of side hustles, from flipping sneakers to freelance writing—and I share everything I’ve learned here.

Between 2020 and 2024, I’ve made over $98,000 in side hustle income — all while working a 9-5 job.

Here’s a breakdown of where some of that money came from:

  • $36,000+ from blog income (includes ads, affiliate marketing & sponsored content)
  • $22,000+ from flipping items on eBay
  • $14,000+ through platforms like Mercari, OfferUp, Poshmark, and Facebook Marketplace
  • $6,600+ through Amazon incentives
  • $3,200+ from Misc (events, Uber Eats, and more)
  • $2,000+ offering SEO and consulting services
  • $1,145+ through paid focus groups and studies
  • $1,000+ from eBook sales and digital products

Whether it’s $50 from selling something online or a $250 month from affiliate commissions, every win counts—and I share them so you can learn what’s possible.
